A city boxer was denied her dream return to the ring on the same card as Floyd Mayweather when she was replaced by two reality TV stars.

Carla McKenzie-Le Roy had been gearing up for her return against London's Rosanna Cox at the O2 Arena last weekend but was taken off the card just a week before.

It comes after Mrs McKenzie-Le Roy, 36, had been dieting and printing up a new outfit for the fifth fight of her 10-year career, which was put on hold when she was diagnosed with a rare type of lymphoma cancer associated with breast implants.

On February 23 last year, the fighter - nicknamed the Vegan Warrior - underwent an operation to remove the cancer.

Boxing in her place were inexperienced duo Tommie Lee and Natalie Nunn, who feature in the American OnlyFans series Baddies and were attempting to settle an argument from the show.

The fight was described as a "farce" by national newspapers and saw Lee fall off her stool as Nunn, who featured on Celebrity Big Brother in 2018, won the bout.

Mrs McKenzie-Le Roy, who runs Assasins Gym in Helford Street with her husband and works part-time in Co-op, had been preparing for four weeks after she received a surprise phone call from her promoter.

She is now preparing to make her boxing return on Saturday, April 15, at Great Yarmouth's Marina Centre.

She said: "I'm disappointed as I had already had my kit all made and delivered to me, but it's one of these things.

"I'm already preparing for the next one and looking forward to that.

"There's also some more coming up and I'm hoping I'll get the opportunity to fight at the O2 again one day."

It is thought the pair will miss out on £1,000 each due to the fight not going ahead.
