Canaries' fans could be watching their team on their feet in the near future after the club asked for their opinions on safe standing.

Norwich City released the survey on rail seating in an attempt to gauge fan opinions on introducing it in the lower Barclay and Snake Pit from the 2024/2025 season.

The survey is open to all season ticket holders regardless of whether they sit in the stands affected.

Questions include asking whether fans support safe standing at Carrow Road and whether they would be interested in moving to the Barclay or Snake Pit if they became standing areas.

The work could cost around £1m if completed, with the club keen to ensure there is a desire from supporters for rail seating before committing to it.

Norwich Evening News:

Safe standing has already been implemented by a number of clubs across the football pyramid, including Manchester City, Queens Park Rangers and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Canaries' bosses confirmed they were planning a move in July last year but said they were not keen on adopting it in the short-term.

Both the Barclay End Norwich and Along Come Norwich fan groups have already thrown their weight behind the move.

David Wiltshire, of Barclay End Norwich, said of safe standing last year: "We've had regular contact with the club and they're certainly in favour of it. We have no doubt it will happen.

Norwich Evening News:

"It's been a 20-year campaign and a lot has happened and changed in that time. Standing at football has been far more accepted in recent years, but it'll be great to formalise it with designated areas of purpose-built rail seating."

Andrew Lawn of Along Come Norwich, who recently appeared on Bargain Hunt singing 'On The Ball City' in an empty stadium, also supported the move.

He added: "This has been long overdue. I think it will be really good for fans because it will eliminate some of that tension where some people want to sit and some want to stand."
