Bus stranded in Linacre Avenue during Sprowston school run

Konectbus has pleaded with parents to be more considerate when picking up their children from Cecil Gowing Infant School in Sprowston.

It comes after the Konect 11B bus was stranded in the middle of Linacre Avenue for a second time while waiting for families to return to their poorly parked cars.

According to onlookers, the driver stopped the bus to argue with one of the motorists on Wednesday morning.

A Konectbus spokeswoman said: “We are aware that there are times when our buses do get stuck along Linacre Avenue and Falcon Road due to cars being parked on the footpaths.

"[This] restricts the access for our buses to move freely along the roads.

"We would therefore ask that residents and school parents remain considerate to this, especially during school times to allow our buses to move freely along this route.

"There are many residents who rely on this bus route to reach essential services and therefore we do not have any plans to alter it as this would affect those who use it on a regular basis."

Headteacher Aimee Bulman reminded parents of the Highway Code - including not parking on bends - and said the school had been speaking to children about road safety.

"We understand the challenges that limited parking can present to school pick-up and drop-off times, and we know asking you to park further away and walking your children to the school is easier said than done," she added. 

"But please be mindful of other road users and pedestrians in the area for the safety of all."
