Plans for a new home at the site of a former bank have been withdrawn.

Fairfield Partnership had been interested in converting the upper floor of the former Lloyds TSB in Harvey Lane, next to the Heartsease roundabout, into a two-bed apartment.

The scheme would have seen a pair of bedrooms replace empty office space and a former IT room expanded to make way for a kitchen and lounge space.

But the plans have been withdrawn by the developers before even being discussed by the city council's planning committee.

The proposals had been lodged six months after Greggs was given the green light to move into the site's ground floor.

The popular bakery chain, which already has 10 shops dotted across the city, received permission from the city council back in June to add a new shopfront, signs and air conditioner condenser unit.

However, no work has yet started on the site and multiple attempts made by this newspaper for clarity on the project have been left unanswered.

The current work on the major revamp of the Heartsease roundabout started in September and is due to finish in April.
