An avid bowls player has shared his secret to living a full and happy life after turning 100.
Laurie Foster, who joined Victoria Bowling Club in Norwich 15 years ago, believes "being yourself and not trying to be anything else" is what is keeping him feeling so youthful.
He also advises: "If you want something, go for it, because nothing is too far away from you."
The centenarian, who celebrated his birthday on August 16, said: "I do not feel 100, maybe a little bit in my knees, but that's all."
During the Covid pandemic, when socialising and playing the sport were restricted, Laurie and fellow bowls member Jim Walton, who is 98, were the two players at the club said to have played the most.
Laurie, who played rugby as a boy, says he was introduced to bowls by a friend and has loved it ever since.
He says: "The camaraderie is great and everyone is very polite."
Born in Wales, Laurie has enjoyed a "varied" career from working for the Royal Air Force police to starting his own cleaning business when he was 61 in Norwich.
He said: "I really enjoyed the cleaning company because then I got to be my own person."
To celebrate his birthday, a big bash was held at Barnham Broom Hotel over the weekend, where Laurie was joined by many friends and family from around the world.
Judith, his wife, who is 88, said: "It was magnificent. Jeremy, his son, and his wife did a wonderful job."
His fellow bowlers, who have described him as a "quite a remarkable character", also describe his bowls skill as just as remarkable.
