Costessey bungalow bid questioned by council officials

Environmental quality officers for Broadland and South Norfolk District Council have called for details on whether air source heat pumps will be used as part of the bid for two semi-detached bungalows in Costessey. 

They said in their comments to the council: "Until the requested information has been provided I object to the application."

But in revised drawings which, the applicant, Marc Hill, has now submitted, details show he intends to install six solar panels on each roof of the bungalows.

These will also be accompanied by an air source heat pump at the back of each of the properties.

The new plans which include solar panels (Image: GS Designs) Since the plans were submitted last month, Norfolk County Council has also had its say on the plans. 

Highways development officers for the council advised the applicant - Marc Hill - over the footway and verge, which they said must be built for the second home.

They also added that any "street furniture", such as lampposts, that need to be repositioned because of the works, must be done at the applicant's expense.

If the plans are approved by Broadland and South Norfolk District Council, a garage on land between 43 and 45 Valley Road will be demolished to make way for the single-storey homes. 

In Marc's proposals, the semi-detached bungalows will consist of two bedrooms, one bathroom, a lounge and a kitchen.

There will also be space for two cars to park in front of each of the bungalows, which will also have electric vehicle charging points. 

A new dropped kerb will have to be constructed as part of the works for one of the bungalows since the one leading to the garage set to be demolished already exists. 

The council is yet to make a decision over the plans.
