A large emergency services presence was active in a city road for five hours today.

Eyewitnesses report seeing eight police cars, a riot van and two ambulances.

Police were called out to an incident at a property in Lilian Close in Hellesdon, near the Boundary junction, at 9.26am.

A spokesman said a police negotiator was also at the incident of the "concern for safety".

The road was kept open and with no cordon in place at the house that police and ambulance staff were focused on.

Officers remained at the incident until 2.30pm when a man in his 50s was arrested for breach of the peace.

He was then taken to Aylsham Police station for further questioning, where he remains.
