A woman whose parked car was hit by a city bus is now back on the road in her repaired vehicle after striking a deal with the firm responsible for the damage.

Nicole Brown was parked in Fiddlewood Road in Catton on Friday, October 20 during her weekly visit to her mum's house.

But as she went to drive home, Nicole found extensive damage to the side of her blue Ford KA.

Fortunately, the whole incident was caught on CCTV and showed a First bus crunching into the side of her car and dragging it along the road after trying to squeeze past oncoming traffic.

A dispute about the repair work initially broke out but First has now agreed to pay a settlement for the parts bought to repair her car.

Nicole said: “At first they wanted to write the car off, but I bought the parts required to repair the car and I then emailed them the amount and asked them to cover the parts.

“They decided to reimburse me for the parts I bought – I did feel like I had to put a lot of pressure on them to do this, which was a shame considering they hit me.

“But they have since reimbursed me and so I consider the matter to be resolved.”

She said: “I do now avoid parking there. Other people still park there but I am far too anxious that it will happen again, so I will always find somewhere else to park.
