The county council has said it will carry out work on pathways "when necessary" after neighbours in a city suburb slammed their road's hazardous pavement.

Folk living in Calthorpe Road, in West Earlham, say that the pathway on one side of the road is causing people to trip on the many uneven concrete slabs.

Roughly five years ago Norfolk County Council repaired one side of the street but left the other cracked and raised.

But after people in the area, such as 79-year-old Tony Allen and 91-year-old Morris Dyke, complained about the path's "awful condition" the county council is encouraging them to report the issues.

A county council spokesman said: "We regularly inspect our footways and carry out works to keep them safe when necessary.

"We encourage people to report defects and issues via our web page."

Mr Allen said: "The concrete slabs are uneven and there's grass growing up out of them all which is making it a hazard.

"The pavement is well beyond the point of saving."
