A woman whose kitchen ceiling was falling down due to a leak in the upstairs bathroom said the council has left her house in a state that is just as dangerous.

Stephanie Breame is the mother of five children under 10 years old and following a leak in her St Mildreds Road bathroom the kitchen had been destroyed with water damage.

Since work began to be carried out Stephanie said that while they have fixed the leak, as well as replacing her bathroom floor and toilet, the home still cannot be lived in.

Stephanie said: “It has been nine weeks and all I have is a few wooden floorboards and a new toilet.”

But Stephanie’s kitchen ceiling is partly missing and her kitchen is water damaged and has black mould from how long the leak was left.

She said: “They are refusing to replace the whole thing. I only got the new toilet because I refused the old broken one back on.”

Both Stephanie, a carer, and her husband Craig Breame, 38, have been concerned about the state that the kitchen has been left in, with half the wall removed and pipes exposed, as well as this, it still seems to be crumbling.

She said: “As for the kitchen, they are just putting something infornt of the pipes again and plastering.

“But there is so much damage behind the cupboards.”
