A popular Norwich independent pub known for its selection of local real ales is hoping to open a sister pub at the former site of a Golden Triangle bar.

The Fat Cat Brewery Tap wants to open a "mini Brewery Tap" in the former Oliver's Bar, in Unthank Road, after it closed earlier this year.

Announcing its closure on Instagram in February, the bar remained tight-lipped on the reason for its closure but thanked its customers for their support.

According to a planning application submitted to Norwich City Council, the new boozer would open from midday to midnight from Monday to Thursday, opening until 1am on Saturday and closing at 11.30pm on Sunday.

The chain says it would install a new cooling unit for its beer cellar as part of the works and add a new cycle space.

The pub would be a part of the Fat Cat family offering its unique range of real ales and would mirror the Brewery Tap in NR3's Lawson Road.

Brewery Tap boss Mark White said: "The aim is to create a hub of exciting beers."

Those wishing to comment on plans have until September 6, with hopes a decision can be made by October 3.

Prior to becoming Oliver's Bar in 2021, the site was home to the Amnesty Bookshop.
