A brazen thief has been captured on CCTV taunting police after stealing items from a sex shop in the city - leaving a shop owner feeling thoroughly fed up.

Sinsins Boutique of Love, in St Benedicts Street, was at the centre of another theft less than a month after £210 worth of items were stolen on July 1.

This time CCTV inside the shop shows the woman challenging authorities to "catch me then" after leaving with an unpaid item.

Helen Shepherd, owner of Sinsins, said: "The woman looked similar to the person who stole items from the shop earlier in the month.

"I stood near her trying to work out if it was her and I just wasn't sure until she started asking me why I was near her.

"I said I'd had a lot of shoplifting lately and pointed out the cameras.

"She just said 'well they'll catch me then, won't they' before walking out of the shop with something.

"I asked her to put it back she said no."

Helen reported the incident to police shortly after but says: "I'm not seeing anything done about it."

A police spokeswoman said: "We received a report concerning a theft from a business premises in St Benedicts at 17.58pm, on Thursday, July 20.

"An item valued at £40 was stolen."

The incidents have contributed to Helen feeling unsafe in her own shop.

She added: "Honestly, there's part of me that just wants to pack it all in."

"It's crazy - I feel really unsafe as it's just me in the shop most of the time and I'm not the kind of person who usually confronts people.

"But the least I could do was to try and get the items back.

"I'm not going to get in a fight over the items - but I shouldn't have to be put in that position in the first place."
