More than 2,400 people will attempt to beat the heat in a race with a difference near Norwich this weekend.

The family fun Bubble Rush returns to the Norfolk Showground on Sunday, July 16, and is looking to surpass the £45,500 raised for charity last year.

The bubble-filled fun run encourages people of all ages to participate, using a family-friendly course with access for pushchairs and wheelchairs that is 2.5km long. Racers can finish after one lap or continue the excitement by going for a second.

The event is run by East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (Each) and bypassed the 2021 total raised by £10,000 at Earlham Park last year.

With 2,400 participants already registered for Sunday’s event, an increase from last year’s 1,560 participants, Each events fundraiser Emma Cook expects a “big increase on income from last year”.

Cook added that “it’s a very important date in our fundraising calendar,” and will make a huge difference in the charity’s cause to help children with life-threatening conditions and supporting their families.

In previous years, the atmosphere was described as bringing “a playful streak in everyone – adults and children alike” with the laughter bringing joy to all involved.

Cook said: “The whole day was a huge success and I’m positive it will be exactly the same on Sunday.”

The event is running between 10am to 3pm in three waves, allowing the opportunity for more to get involved either as a participant or as a spectator of the chaos that commences.
