A man has been left feeling "betrayed and shocked" after £500 worth of items were stolen from his car just months after moving to a new home.

Salvio Marongiu moved into Primrose Road, in Thorpe Hamlet, on May 11 but was given an unfriendly welcome after his car was broken into on Sunday, July 2.

Mr Marongiu hopes that a neighbour's CCTV, showing a shady figure trying to enter a different car, is the key to getting justice.

The 27-year-old chef woke up on Monday to find his car had been ransacked, saying: "The person somehow managed to get in without setting the alarm off so I imagine they knew what they were doing.

"They stole a Louis Vuitton wallet, worth about £300, Armani perfume which was roughly £100 as well a number of clothes and shoes.

"All in all they took about £500 worth of items from the car.

"Unfortunately my neighbours didn't see or hear anything but one has CCTV showing someone trying to open another car around the same time, however, you can't see my car."

The incident has been reported to the police.

Mr Marongui added: "I hope that someone manages to come up with something - maybe if they try and sell any of the items.

"I feel betrayed and shocked as I'm very new to the area and haven't done anything to bother anyone.

"I just wonder why someone would do something like this."
