The public has been assured it is safe to stand outside a row of city shops after a large section of coving crashed to the ground.

Debris was found scattered in front of Orient Market, in the Colman Road parade of shops, and was reported to Norwich City Council on Friday, June 16.

Fortunately, no one was injured or close by when the coving fell and the city council has assured people the building is still safe while making arrangements to carry out repairs.

A city council spokesman said: "The debris that fell from the roof of one of our properties on Colman Road was cleared by our contractor on Friday morning.

"An initial inspection has been carried out to ensure that the area is safe and scaffolding was put in place at the weekend for the required repairs to be made."

The row of buildings is locally listed, meaning it's of interest but won't be found on Historic England's listings and doesn't have the statutory considerations of a traditionally listed building.
