Three months after the death of eight-year-old Amber Sheehy, her family are still coming to terms with the tragic loss.

Amber's legacy lives on through the charity Amber's Army though, which raises money for other families going through similar ordeals thanks to support from numerous city businesses.

The former Norwich City fan of the season died just one hour before her ninth birthday, on January 14, after being diagnosed with a medulloblastoma brain tumour.

Even with a trip to Barcelona this month, Amber's family found it to be "incredibly tough".

Amber's father, Jon Sheehy, said: "The trip was incredibly tough emotionally but we talked about Amber while having some quality family time.

"We intend on doing more breaks and holidays when finance and time permits, but with Amber always in our minds, always."

One business contributing to Amber's Army is Milltech Engineering, owned by Indutrade, in Rackheath Industrial Estate which is competing in a Tough Mudder event between June 24-25 at Belvoir Castle in the Midlands.

Michael Thirkettle's daughter went to the same school as Amber, Horsford Middle School, and was "devastated" when he heard the news.

The managing director said: "Because we were close to Amber's journey and were devastated to hear the news, we wanted to support the family any way we can.

"There's about 20 of us taking part which is about a third of the workforce and we're hoping to raise £5,000."

So far £3,100 has been donated to the company to take part in the event.

Mr Sheehy added: "We miss Amber more than words can describe and our world has been shaken to the core without her in it.

"Things aren't getting any easier but we just take each day as it comes and accept the fact that we'll just learn to live with it."
