A city hair salon has announced it is entering "a new era" as it looks to implement a “reworked” business model.

Hairsmiths was launched by Deb Dominic in 2011 and it is currently based in a Grade II-listed building at the heart of Norwich in Timber Hill.

Earlier this year, "to let" signs appeared in the business' windows and in March the team placed a more personal note beside it saying "relocating, not closing".

But Ms Dominic has now explained her decision and said the change would be part of a new business approach to "allow more life and mental space".

"I know as humans change can be unsettling but without change there is no room for growth,” she said.

"Over the past five years we have encountered some curveball activity that greatly impacted society, our personal lives and the industry.

"For a large portion of that time we have worked in survival mode. This has now become the new norm."

She added that Hairsmiths is "no longer going to be about working a million miles per hour and simply surviving" and said she will implement a "reworked model that focuses on bringing quality of experience to both the stylist and the client".

"We are multifaceted souls that should have time for family, interests, growth, work and self-care all in equal measures.

"The new era of Hairsmiths will be built on that standard of equal measure."

Part of this change will be leaving the current premises in Timber Hill.

"We love this building but the gravity and bandwidth of attention it requires and deserves no longer appeals," she said.

Ms Dominic said her announcement has been met with an "amazing response".

"I've had an amazing response from salon owners locally and nationwide, with well wishes coming from old friends on the other side of the planet and family in America I've not spoken to for years.

"It seems to have resonated with so many people."
