Going Out has teamed up with the organisers of Play Fest, Norfolk's exciting new festival to be headlined by The Futureheads and Frank Turner, to offer readers the chance to win tickets - plus the opportunity for local bands to be on the bill.

A brilliant new event is bursting on to the festival scene next month as Play Fest opens its doors for the first time on May 28 and 29. More than 3,000 people are expected to make the pilgrimage to the heart of the county for a festival which boasts highlights including performances from Frank Turner, The Futureheads, Darwin Deez, Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, The Lost Levels, Kill It Kid and Norwich’s own The Kabeedies.

Play Fest is set among seven acres in the wooded grounds of New Eccles Hall School, near Attleborough, and hosts a dance arena with Grooverider and an acoustic stage with some of the UK’s top acoustic acts.

Some of the country’s best up and coming acts will perform in the spectacular Big Top, while Access to Music will provide on-site music workshops, with the chance to record in a beautifully converted Airstream trailer.

Other acts performing at Play Fest include: Norwich’s Fever Fever, The King Blues, Little Comets, All The Young, Max Raptor, Dumbfoundus, Dirty Tricks, Feral Mouth, These Ghosts, We Can’t Dance, Slightly Offensive Steve, Hallo Bear, The Fuzz and Scott Wright.

n Play Fest is giving unsigned bands the chance to play to the festival crowd via a competition on social media platform Twitter.

Bands should follow @playfestuk, tweet their band name and a link to a video or audio file of a song, and add the hashtag #wewanttoplayatplayfest. Entries must be made by April 30

Bands will then be judged in an event which will be ‘live-tweeted’ as it happens on April 30 at 8pm and the winning band will be given the chance to play a 45-minute slot in the Play Fest Big Top, opening the festival on May 28 at 1pm in front of a 3,000-strong festival crowd.

n Going Out also has two pairs of Play Fest tickets to give away, which include camping and the chance to see more than 100 acts at Norfolk’s newest music festival.

There are two prizes, each of which include camping and two tickets so that you can take a friend with you to the festival.

For a chance of winning, send your name, address and a daytime telephone number to: Play Fest Competition, Going Out, Evening News, Prospect House, Rouen Road, Norwich, NR1 1RE. Alternatively email your entry to: goingoutcomps@archant.co.uk

Entries must arrive before May 18. Normal Archant competition rules apply.
