From a garden party full of weird and wonderful acts to a performance project on a north Norfolk beach, there are lots of free events to enjoy at this year's Norfolk and Norwich Festival. Arts correspondent Emma Knights looks at 10 highlights.

• THE GARDEN PARTY

Head to Chapelfield Gardens and be entertained by an array of wonderfully quirky acts for all the family on May 19 and 20.

• TIMEPIECE

Enjoy the sublime sounds of The Voice Project with various performances at Norwich Cathedral throughout the day from noon on May 25.

• PIG

Visit the huge piggy bank outside The Forum. The artwork is inviting people to donate money and help choose where the savings go.

• WAYFARING

Help create an installation inspired by journeys from May 21 to 25 at Wells Beach and enjoy a special sunset spectacle on May 25 and 26.

• YES, WE CAN!

Take part in a day of debate at Norwich City Council on May 19 and hear a talk by Man Booker Prize-winning novelist Ben Okri on citizenship.

• FREE SPIEGELTENT FUN

Alongside its ticketed events, the iconic venue is hosting some free daytime events. Festival-goers can also enjoy the pop-up bar next door.

• THE SEAFARERS

Watch Stopgap Dance Company present a 'part gig, part spectacle' celebrating the sea along Great Yarmouth seafront on May 26 and 27.

• BEASTS

Find the three new sculptures by Lynn Chadwick that have joined the sculpture park at the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts at the UEA.

• NATHAN COLEY

Check out Turner Prize nominee Nathan Coley's latest work at St Laurence's Church in Norwich and NUA's East Gallery from May 15 to July 7.

• THE WOODPECKERS

Go on a city safari and try to spot the robotic woodpeckers that will be popping up on city centre buildings from May 24 to 27.
