Your patience has paid off as Take That are set to return to Carrow Road in 2019.

After two unforgettable nights at the stadium in June 2017, Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald are coming back for a greatest hits tour.

The support act for the concert will be 80s legend Rick Astley - best known for hit single Never Gonna Give You Up.

The band will perform on Thursday, May 30 which will coincide with the release of new album Odyssey celebrating all their hits across three decades.

Tickets to the tour will go on general sale at 9.30am on Friday, September 28 with hospitality tickets, including a seat and meal, on sale through the club at 9am on September 26.

The concert is part of wider plans to turn Carrow Road into a multi-purpose venue as they have also submitted an application to Norwich City Council to allow bars and eateries outside the ground.

Ben Kensell, commercial director at Carrow Road, said: “The concert world is getting more and more competitive and we have to ensure that Carrow Road isn’t just a football stadium but a multi-purpose venue.

“We need to build more of a footprint around our stadium and if we want eateries and bars outside the stadium we need to get the relevant licences.”

Concerts didn’t take place on the pitch this year due to resurfacing work which was funded by the profits from the Take That gig reinvested in the club.

The gig will also be different to the first time around as it will celebrate all their hits whereas the 2017 dates were part of the Wonderland album tour.

The stage will also be at the Barclay end instead of in the middle of the pitch where it was last year.

Mr Kensell added: “We decided to get Take That back for two reasons – they were great concerts and they wanted to come back to Norwich.

“It was well documented in interviews last time did their tour that they said the atmosphere was electric over those two nights and it was the place they enjoyed the most.

“It’s also great for the city to attract acts like this as it’s challenging geographically as tour routes usually goes up the spine of the country in London, Birmingham and Manchester.

“We want to be seen as a major entertainment venue in East Anglia and the last concerts provided a phenomenal boost to the Norwich economy.”

Mr Kensell has a three week window in late May and early June when he can hold live music events at the ground.

In the future, he hopes to hold two concerts a year and acts on his wishlist are Coldplay, U2 and Ed Sheeran.

The UK tour runs from April 15 to June 4 and other venues include Manchester Arena, The O2 Arena and Milton Keynes Stadium.
