Review: Marmozets at Norwich Arts Centre
Marmozets stormed the stage of Norwich Arts Centre to deliver a full packed, high energy show.
Marmozets, an English rock band from Bingley in West Yorkshire, didn’t fail to disappoint at their sold out show last night [November 2] at Norwich Arts Centre.
The show was packed full of songs from both their debut album, ‘The Weird and Wonderful Marmozets’, and their forthcoming album ‘Knowing What You Know Now’, due for release on January 26, 2018.
They opened the show with ‘Play’, a song taken from their upcoming album. It was clear to see that the fans were eager and ready to hear their new music as feet begun tapping right from the start of this catchy track.
Following this was crowd favourite ‘Move, Shake, Hide’, a song from their debut album. Packed with dynamic vocals and heavy breakdowns, it was impossible to not be impressed by the Marmozets and their ability to get a crowd moving.
Part-way into the set they played ‘Captivate You’ a song that allowed Becca to showcase her finely tuned vocals. Seeing their fans scream the lyrics directly back to them made for quite a special moment within their 13-song set.
Having seen Marmozets during their early touring days, the new songs seemed to incorporate tighter and more complex guitar riffs with an overall matured sound both lyrically and musically.
Occasionally it was a little difficult to hear lead singer Becca Macintyre over the rest of the band, but this didn’t deter from the show being one to remember for all of the eager fans who turned up and the band themselves.
In a largely male dominated genre, it’s refreshing to see a female-fronted band making such a name for themselves.
The sheer levels of energy from the Marmozets, equally matched by that of the crowd, makes it plain to see why they’ve seen such success so far and will continue to do so through 2018 and beyond.
Judging by their live performance, the new album will continue to rocket the five-piece further into the eyes of the British public.
