Norwich Youth for Christ will be hosting the reunion concert, in aid of their anniversary.

More than 50 people involved in the Youth for Christ gospel choir between 2007 and 2015 will be returning to Norfolk for the special event.

Former youth worker Heather Land is one person returning to Norwich for the concert, and was very keen to put the reunion event on,

She said: “Choir members are excited about singing with each other again and there is high enthusiasm for the concert. It’s a combination of the choice of music, the passion with which is it sung, the buzz of the atmosphere of the choir and the community aspect that makes it so good!”

The gospel choir project ran between 2007 and 2015, at a time when choirs across the country were seeing a resurgence in attention.

Fliss Jones, Norwich Youth for Christ office manager, who helped the choir in its infancy and is managing the reunion concert, said: “This is a fantastic fundraiser for us as part of our 40th birthday but it’s also an exciting opportunity to bring friends to a high quality Christian concert that is uplifting and encouraging.

“The choir are sounding incredible at the rehearsals, possibly the best they’ve ever been!”

The choir took part in some of these competitions, winning the Bandstand competition at Soul Survivor in 2008 and awarded as runners up in the BBC Norfolk’s Choir of the Year 2011.

The ongoing effects of the project are still having a positive impact on the singer’s lives.

Chris Starling, a volunteer with the group, said: “The Gospel Choir has had an enormous impact on my life! I am still feeling the effects seven years on. Gospel choir brought me out of my shell and gave the confidence that has seen me to where I am today.”

The concert will be taking place on July 21, at the Norwich Central Baptist Church in Duke Street.

Tickets for the event are £7, with £5 for concessions. Under 12s are welcomed free to the concert.

Tickets are available from the Norwich Youth for Christ office on 01603 620678, or at www.norwichyfc.co.uk.
