The Crash Course In The Music Industry is a special one-day event being held at Norwich Arts Centre on April 1.

The event, which will culminate in an evening of local music, will feature Chris Cooke (pictured), of CMU, the biggest news provider for the UK music business, who has writ-ten about the music industry for over 10 years and is considered a leading expert on trends and developments in the fast-moving industry. Topics covered will range from music rights to business models to using social media to help promote and break bands. The event is being jointly promoted by six local partners, including Clear Talent Media (CTM), BBC Introducing and Access To Music and is a taster for the second Norwich Sound & Vision conference to be held from September 29-October 1. There has never been a better time to be part of the generation that is reinventing the music industry, according to CTM event organiser Kingsley Harris. 'The industry of music is changing at a rapid pace and if you feel this is where your future is you need to be armed with the facts,' he said. 'This training day is aimed at all areas of the current industry especially those that have been most effected by the arrival of digital. Come and listen to one of the UK's leading experts talk on the subject and help you start you career in the music industry.' Only 50 tickets are available to the public, priced �10 (�5 cons). The train-ing day ticket will also include entry to the Sound Lounge Live music event in the evening although please note that evening tickets can be purchased on their own at �5 advance or �7 on the door. The live music will include sets from Sargasso Trio, Lowery, Tawny Owl and the Birds Of Prey and Kamilla Lovett, plus a BBC Introducing acoustic showcase featuring Milly Hirst, Mouth Sized Bites and Graham Horne.
