Break’s 50 years of supporting young people is being celebrated in a very special way on the latest GoGoHare to be revealed for the charity’s art trails which will decorate Norwich and Norfolk this summer.

Heptahare - who is sponsored by Dolphin Autos and was unveiled at an event at Norwich Cathedral - is covered with 50 pence pieces and the hare made a very grand entrance through a large sliding 50p which opened out to a display of smoke, lights and music.

Heptahare - whose name is a reference to the seven sides of a 50p coin - will be one of 50 hare sculptures who will form a trail through Norwich alongside a second city trail of more than 160 leverets and a county-wide trail featuring 18 moongazer hares.

All three trails have been organised to celebrate Break’s landmark anniversary this year and they are being brought to the city and county by the charity and Wild in Art.

Alix Carter has designed Heptahare and is also the artist behind the 2015 GoGoDragon Tuppence who is decorated in two pence pieces and, after being bought at auction by Aviva, now resides at Marble Hall in Surrey House in Norwich.

Debbie Cook, from Heptahare’s sponsor Dolphin Autos, said: “When my husband Mel and I went to the sponsors evening, the coin design caught our eye because the artist’s vision was to use 50p, 10ps and 5ps linking in with the 50th year anniversary of Break.

“We said that we would like to go ahead with the design but wanted to use only 50 pence pieces on it to resemble the 50 years of excellent work that Break has provided.”

• As well as being stars of the GoGo trails, Heptahare and all of the other GoGoHares will also be celebrated in a 60-page sticker book being created by the EDP and Evening News in partnership with Break and East of England Co-op. The GoGoHares album will cost £5 but people who pre-order it before June 17 will save £1 and pay just £4. To pre-order, visit www.edp24.co.uk/hares or call 01603 772138.
