The Manic Street Preachers and The Charlatans have both confirmed headline shows at the UEA in October, with heavyweight support provided by British Sea Power and Shaun Ryder.

Following 2009's cathartic Journal For Plague Lovers, the Manic Street Preachers this week announced details of their tenth studio album, including a 23 date UK tour, their biggest in a decade.

The Welsh trio will appear at the UEA on October 17, with support coming from cult indie rockers and Latitude favourites British Sea Power.

The Manic's album, Postcards From A Young Man, will be released in September and is said to be a return to the classic rock roots of Send Away The Tigers and the arena-sized choruses of Everything Must Go. The band are currently adding finishing touches to the record with producer Dave Eringa at their Cardiff studio.

Meanwhile following the success of their retrospective Some Friendly dates earlier this month, The Charlatans have also announced a UEA gig on October 21, part of a 13 date UK tour

The band are currently putting the finishing touches to their new album, Who We Touch, produced by Youth, and due for release on September 6 on Frinck Recordings through Cooking Vinyl. The album will be preceded by the release of the single Love Is Ending on July 19.

The tour certainly promises to be something of a Manchester baggy-era reunion as special guest support will be provided by Happy Mondays and Black Grape main-man Shaun Ryder.

t Tickets for both gigs go on sale on June 4 at 9.30am on 01603 508050, www.ueaticketbookings.co.uk
