The sound of live music filled the Riverside in Norwich this weekend as the complex's second mini-festival took place.

The Riverside Live Music Weekend welcomed 20 local bands and solo artists across the two days as they performed on a stage outside the Odeon and Hollywood Bowl.

Customers stopped and listened, with many sitting out in pub beer gardens and restaurant outdoor dining areas as they soaked up the entertainment.

Watching the performers’ every move was a panel of judges, who will announce next week who has won a support slot at a Norwich music venue and a further prize from Outline magazine, who had arranged the weekend line-up.

Isobel Harries, of Outline magazine, said: “Every single act has impressed me with great singing voices. We are spoilt for choice really.”

She added that the cold, windy and rainy conditions on Saturday had seen people out with umbrellas, but had not dampened spirits.

However, today’s sunshine had seen many groups of people out enjoying the music.

Bands and solo artists performed from 12.30-9.30pm, with further performances from Addison’s Uncle and Chasing Tigers at an after party at Project nightclub. Tonight Slightly Offensive Steve and Big Black Cadillac are performing at the Project after party.

Jimmy Boardley, marketing manager for Riverside, said: “We did it last year and it was really popular, all the businesses and tenants on Riverside were all very much behind this again.”

He said he hoped it would be an annual event and would like to see piazza used more regularly.
