Idris Elba has had to postpone his DJ set at Mantra Club and Lounge in Norwich due to his acting commitments.

The Hollywood star, who is known for a number of prolific roles including the title character in BBC crime drama Luther and Heimdall in Thor, will be coming to the Prince of Wales Road nightclub later than the July date originally advertised.

Paul Marks, Mantra's operations director, said this thing tends to happen when dealing with big stars.

'Within the last week we were contacted by Idris Elba's management that Idris unfortunately had to fulfil an unforeseen acting role for a high end client,' he said. 'This meant we had to postpone the scheduled appearance and look for alternative dates.

'When you are dealing with an 'A list' star there are always complications.

'It's like negotiating a Formula 1 driver's contract, it is very intensive and there are a lot of clauses and conditions.'

The operations director confirmed that as soon as the nightclub were aware there was an issue with the date, they informed all customers that had bought tickets that they could either use their purchased ticket for the next confirmed date or have a full refund.

He added: 'The date that is pencilled in at the moment is the September 15 which I will confirm as soon as Idris's Management give me the go ahead.

'In the meantime the Mantra team and myself in particular (who is a real fan) cannot wait for him to appear at Mantra and for our customers to meet him.

'It will truly be an amazing event and a first for Norwich.'

It was confirmed earlier this week that Mr Elba, who recently attended the royal wedding, will return for the fifth series of Luther which will start filming next year.
