Henry Rollins has toured the world as a spoken word artist, as frontman for both Rollins Band and hardcore punk legends Black Flag.

Now he is heading tio Norwich with a very different show — presenting his travel snaps. But this being Henry Rollisn these aren’t old holiday photos.

Rollins will present a special performance drawing on experiences and his vast archive of photographs. As a solitary traveller with insatiable curiosity, favouring road-less-traveled locales in places such as Nepal, Sri Lanka, Siberia, North Korea, South Sudan and Iran.

For many years, Rollins has used his camera to document his travels around the world. He is coming to the UEA in Norwich next Feburary promising an intimate evening as he tells the fascinating stories behind the photos he has taken, from Baghdad to Timbuktu.

“For many years, I have documented my travels all over the world with a camera. Not always easy but always worth it,” he explains. “Many of the photos have a stories behind them. Now and then, I gather several images, show them to an audience and tell those stories.”

Though he first made his name as a muscular singer on the US punk and hardcore scenes, he has since had a tendency is to try to squeeze as many labels as possible, from provocateur to humourist, actor to radio talk show host, even motivational speaker. He is an enthusiastic and engaging chatter.

• Henry Rollins: Travel Slideshow is at the UEA LCR, Norwich, on February 8, £20, 01603 508050, www.ueaticketbookings.co.uk
