With slots at three of the summer's major festivals including The Great Escape, LoveBox and Blissfields guaranteed for the winner, the awards offer talented musicians a platform to get themselves noticed by both the public and the industry.

Red Stripe's Jonny Kirkham said: 'The Red Stripe Music Award is a celebration of every thriving live music scene across the country. The quality of the bands this year has been outstanding which is why it's so important for us to have a band like Gomez involved at the final.

'Gomez have stood apart from the very beginning with their eclectic, ambitious and forward thinking music style. 10 years on from winning the Mercury Music prize for Bring It On and the band still deliver the goods.'

Formerly known as Trickbabies, Fever Fever are made up of vocalist Rosie, who also plays guitar and the odd bit of keyboards, drummer Smit and guitarist Ellie.

Their sound is art-punk tunes with catchy pop hooks, that has been described my themselves as 'a cross between a drunk tramp, an arts school student, a church choir and a children's nativity band'.
