It’s the first time in well over a decade that the Sunderland band – brothers Peter and David Brewis – have played in the city, their last visit being a gig supporting The Futureheads in the summer of 2006.

The bands’ members have at times been in both fellow Wearsiders The Futureheads and Newcastle’s Maximo Park and share the same kind of sound as their geographical neighbours.

Over thirteen years and six albums, Field Music have won a place in the hearts of music fans – for the uninitiated, they are a modern take on the likes of XTC, Devo and Talking Heads with strong lyrics and an upbeat sound.

This UK tour in support of their new album Open Here, will see them perform eleven UK dates with the Norwich gig the penultimate show before a triumphant north east homecoming in Stockton-Upon-Tees.

Lead single Count It Up has been heavily played by BBC’s 6 Music in recent weeks and the band have been championed by DJ Marc Riley among others.

Field Music will be touring as a seven piece with core live players Kev Dosdale (guitar), Andrew Lowther (bass), Liz Corney (vocals and keys) plus Damo Waters on percussion and Sarah Hayes on flute and keyboards.

In May the band are set to perform a special show at the Barbican in London with strings, horns, woodwind and assorted percussion provided by the Open Here Orchestra.

Tickets for the Norwich show are available from the UEA Box Office for £15 advance.
