Clashing your primary colours is as easy as ABC, says Emma Harrowing. The female winner of the Face of Norwich Fashion Week 2012 shows you how.
Colour is a force to be reckoned with this year – there is just no escaping it. You can of course dip your toe in this trend by wearing a coloured belt or bag that clashes with your outfit, but why not use this season’s love of bright colour as an excuse to experiment with different hues.
The easiest way to wear head-to-toe colour clash is to layer your look. Wear your coloured jeans with a different colour vest and layer with another colour top and a scarf or necklace. The shops are full of colour popping pumps and two-tone heels so you can take this look right down to your toes.
The great thing about layering is that you can dress to flatter you shape.
Make sure that tops do not end on your widest parts, if you are bottom heavy, and wear a belt or a cropped top over a vest if you have a waist. Roll up your jeans at the ankle and wear with wedges or heels if you have short legs.
If you are top-heavy wear tops that are scooped or V-neck or wear a long necklace to create a V at the neckline. And, if you want to hide your tummy, ruche up your tops to create a draping effect as this will hide your lumps and bumps.
Here are four different ways you can bring colour to your look this summer.
Modelled by Molly McGeachin, the female Face of Norwich Fashion Week 2012, the looks can be mixed and matched with different block colours and textures to give you a capsule wardrobe of different looks.
Molly, who comes from Brighton and is currently studying for a degree at the University of East Anglia, won the Face of Norwich Fashion Week 2012 after competing with more than 35 models who took to the catwalks throughout fashion week in March.
“I still cannot believe that I won,” says Molly. “Norwich Fashion Week was a lot of fun and I hope to be part of the modelling team next year.
“Doing this fashion shoot was great experience and it was fun working in the studio with stylists and the photographer.”
Norwich Fashion Week 2013 takes place between March 7 until March 13 next year. If you would like to become a sponsor or you would like to be part of Norwich Fashion Week contact firstname.lastname@example.org
