The wife and children of John Peel are to visit a Norwich bookstore to launch a new book containing a selection of the late DJ's writings.

To celebrate the publication of The Olivetti Chronicles by John Peel, Borders at Chapelfield is hosting a free event on Tuesday, October 28, from 6pm to 8pm.

There will be acoustic sets from two local bands, selected by Norwich Arts Centre.

John Peel fans will also have the chance to meet his wife, Sheila Ravenscroft, and their four children, who selected the excerpts of writing featured in the new book.

In addition to live music and special guests, refreshments will be provided by Norwich's Clark and Ravenscroft Deli, which was founded by John's daughter Danda.

Opening the evening will be rising stars Fever Fever, who are semi-finalists in this year's Next Big Thing competition.

Anna and Grace, aka The Middle Ones, follow with their quirky, humorous combination of guitar and accordion.

Steve Tattam, general manager at Borders, said: “At Borders we are committed to our music offering, supporting new talent and acknowledging the people who have shaped the industry into what it is today. The John Peel celebration night encompasses all of these things and we are delighted to play host to such a unique event.”

The event is free to attend, however arriving before 6pm is recommended to avoid disappointment. For more information please call 01603 664538 or ask in store for further details.
