Archant

If you think that looking and feeling good takes time, think again. Emma Harrowing discovers 10 wellbeing fixes you can do in 30 minutes.

Try on clothes, virtually

We all know that trying on clothes can be a time consuming process. Problem solved… the Magic Mirror will be at Chapelfield from September 27 until September 30. This amazing creation is a TV screen ‘mirror’ which uses augmented reality and movement sensors to enable shoppers to change their outfit with a simple wave of the hand. Digital outfits are superimposed over a real time image of the shopper. Quick and easy transitions mean less time in the changing room and more time to ‘try on’ different styles and brands.

Get the perfect brow

Even with minimal make-up, tidy eyebrows, curled lashes and a slick of lip gloss or balm can make you feel positively well groomed. Professionally shaped eyebrows accentuate the eyes in the best possible way for your face shape. Find brow bars in Jarrold, Superdrug in Chapelfield and Benefit in House of Fraser, Debenhams and beauty salons.

Have a healthy lunch

Trying to fit in a healthy lunch can sometimes be difficult so let someone else put together a delicious and nutritious meal for you. Healthy options include Yo! Sushi in Chapelfield which offers take away bento boxes or Mustard on Bridewell Alley can make you a healthy salad. You’ll soon discover that you have more energy to get through the rest of your day.

Go to the spa

There are many in-store spas that offer massage, facials, exfoliation and manicures for under 30 minutes. Decleor in House of Fraser offers a Vital Eye Treatment and Aromessence Express Treatment both cost £15 which is redeemable against two or more products. The Retreat in Jarrold offers a range of treatments for those in a hurry, John Lewis has a private and relaxing room off the shop floor where you can have a facial or makeover from one of the beauty houses in store and Debenhams has a Clarins spa where you can have hand and face treatments.

Update your make-up

Seasonal trends apply just as much to make up as they do clothing. Find out how to achieve an up-to-date look with a free one-to-one session at one of the many beauty counters in Norwich. You can get free make-up lessons with award-winning Max Factor make up consultant Jane Hewitt at Boots in Chapelfield, on Estee Lauder and Dior counters in Jarrold, John Lewis and Debenhams and at many other beauty counters. Some others charge a small fee but this is usually redeemable against products.

Reduce your wrinkles

Light therapy is said to give you a feeling of wellbeing and can help improve the appearance of wrinkles. Once only available through private health care the therapy is now available to all at the U and Your Skin Lounge on Bridewell Alley. “The Omnilux Light Therapy machine stimulates cellular mechanisms responsible for tissue repair, and in affect increases cell vitality and collagen to kick-start the natural processes to rejuvenate the skin and counteract the effects of ageing,” says skin therapist Louise Thomas-Minns. “The sessions give you a sense of well-being and pampering and only take 20 minutes so can be fitted in a lunchbreak, or as quick pick-me-up”.

Improve your fitness

Fitness Ballet Norwich has a new 30-minute ‘power lunch’ session at The Garage on Fridays from September 14. The class fuses ballet movements with a funky soundtrack and is run by REPs registered instructor Amber Davis. The class is suitable for all abilities and runs from 1pm until 1.30pm so you have time to exercise in your lunch break. Classes cost £5.50 or pre-book 10 classes for £50. For more details contact Amber on 07956 124 836 or email amberlinderdavis@gmail.com See you Evening News tomorrow for your chance to win a free Fitness Ballet session.

Boost your looks

In 30 minutes you can reduce lines and wrinkles with botox, microdermabrasion or a glycolic facial peel at the Norwich Cosmetic Clinic on Exchange Street. A botox treatment takes 30 minutes for the first treatment and then 15 minutes for subsequent treatments. For more information call 01603 877470.

Get a tan

A natural looking spray tan takes less time than you think meaning that you can go from pale and pasty to a bronzed goddess in 30 minutes. There are many spray tan booths in Norwich such as at hair and beauty salon Charisma on Cattlemarket Street.

Be smooth

Unwanted hair can be quickly removed at one of the wax bars or beauty salons in Norwich. A typical hair removal session lasts about 30 minutes and you will leave feeling smooth, hair free and confident.
