Following the latest outbreak of the 'Strictly Curse', Jessica Long looks at whether Seann Walsh and Katya Jones can continue in the BBC ballroom show after that kiss.

We have all had a drunken snog on a night out with someone who we really shouldn't have.

Mine was in Lava Ignite in Bournemouth dressed as a cave girl and was laughed off the next day by all parties involved.

But unlike Seann Walsh and Katya Jones mine didn't involve people in a committed relationship and I sadly wasn't on one of the biggest TV shows in the country, spending hours and hours of my week up close and personal with that person.

The fall out from the latest case of the 'Strictly Curse' began on Saturday night when photos of Seann, who was in a long term relationship with actress Rebecca Humphries (more on that later), passionately kissing Katya, who is married to fellow Strictly pro Neil Jones, were splashed on The Sun's website.

What followed was shock, outrage and intrigue to how the pair would respond.

Both put out public apologies following Sunday's result show, which saw them through to the next round, and thoughts quickly turned to their next routine.

Would it be a passionate rhumba? Would Tess and Claudia address the photos? And how would the judges, and the voting public, react?

Fast forward 48 hours and my burning question is now, will they even stay on the show?

This comes after Seann's, now ex-girlfriend Rebecca Humphries, released a statement on Twitter in which she claimed she 'is not a victim' and gave her own context to the kiss which happened on her birthday.

She used words such as 'controlling', 'trapped' and 'vulnerability'.

This statement now moved the debate on from an alleged drunken kiss, which could have been made light of, to something potentially more harmful.

Now I don't know what is going on behind closed doors between the four people involved but I don't see how Seann and Katya can dance together this weekend without bringing the show into disrepute.

With previous cases of the 'Strictly Curse' there has never been such damning evidence and this is what makes this outbreak so different.

Don't get me wrong, I would like to see them continue. Katya is without doubt one of the strongest dancers and choreographers on the show and there is no doubt ratings would be up if they continue as viewers tune in to try and analyse every detail of their relationship.

But their inclusion on Saturday would cast a dark shadow over the light entertainment show and would make it awkward for everyone else involved.

Even if producers gave them a sombre waltz as their next dance, so much of dancing is about the connection between two people and how they move as one.

How can the judges critique their dances in an engaging and entertaining way without putting their foot in a sticky situation? It would all be about heel leads and arm extensions.

BBC bosses need to act now to put everyone out of their misery and bring the Strictly conversation back to conventual ballroom chatter.

And on that bombshell, who thinks self proclaimed professional dancer Ashley Roberts should have been allowed on this show?

Discuss.
