Reader letter: Retail planning must consider congestion, the roundabout at the foot of Ketts Hill is chaos

Thanks to the local press on local issues. How else would we get to know what is being cooked up?
The building of any retail outlet needs to take in the congestion impact.
The roundabout at the foot of Ketts Hill is chaos. Any further volume of traffic would bring the already flow to a standstill.
The knock-on effect would be rat running through from north Britannia Road to south Britannia Road from Gurney Road. Also from the top of Ketts Hill through Wolfe Road and Quebec Road.
All this whilst parents and carers are trying to get their children to and from schools.
When I was a councillor on planning committees we would drag the planners to site visits. Decisions cannot be taken by using a road map whilst tucked up safely in city/county offices.
If Lidl are so keen to set up in competition against Aldi they could take over the old Co-op site now called Budgens which is closing. That way the public could go from one to the other comparing prices. What a lot of bargains we would find.
As a footnote to all lorry and van drivers using sat nav make sure you are not on car mode.
