Dinosaur fossils and ancient bones wowed children at a Norfolk primary school last week as they were taught about the life on earth millions of years ago.

Taverham Hall Pre-Preparatory School was visited by Steve Plater from a company called Dinostar, who brought casts of dinosaur skulls, claws and teeth, as well as genuine dinosaur bones and a dinosaur egg.

The children also made brass rubbings of fossils and plaster of Paris fossil replicas, which they took home at the end of the day.

Ruth Fry, from the Pre-Prep department of the school, said that the highlight of the day was seeing a replica Allosaurus skull with its 70 teeth.

She said: 'The pupils had a dinosaur experience they are unlikely to forget. Pupils in the reception class and Years 1 and 2 learnt a lot of interesting facts about dinosaurs and they were fascinated to learn that dinosaurs could have been any colour. However, they also learnt that a fossil of an orange dinosaur feather was found in China.'

The event was part of the school's Activity Week - on Monday there was a music day with African drumming, violin playing and a

sponsored sing which has raised 500 for new instruments.

Tuesday was science day where they visited Inspire and saw a gherkin being electrocuted and custard being set fire to.

Wednesday was art day, with weaving and exploding art, and Friday was Forest School Day, where the pupils and staff enjoyed a picnic and a detective trail in the woods.
