Add a touch of designer flair to your home with these chic designer and designer-inspired buys. Compiled by Emma Harrowing.

The minimalist look was the easiest way to add a touch of designer style to your home. Using contemporary white paint for the walls, white or black high gloss furniture and a touch of chrome, you could transform your home into a dwelling that would not look out of place on the pages of a glossy interior design magazine.

This look is beginning to appear a bit dated as top interior designers are moving towards adding wood and colour to the minimalist palette. Think beech, maple and teak with a 50s feel.

The simplest way to update a room in your house in this style is to keep your walls plain and simple and add a few pieces with a modern designer edge.
