The time will soon be upon us when according to ancient custom the citizens of Norwich will be invited to select and then elect a person to become a councillor.
This is done under a piece of legislation called 'The Representation of the People Act'.
Except the main candidates do not represent the people, they represent political parties.
They run a campaign run financially and physically by different political parties. We get swamped with cross-party mudslinging and utopian pipe dreams.
This together with much cliched collection of the rhetorical question.
The only true representative of the people is the independent candidate who speaks only for the people on a non-political stand.
The independent has no political machinery or party funds and because the person is independent and not a political party is denied access to voter information by the administrative office in City Hall.
The extreme effort needed, and put in, gets my vote every time.
