Norwich is receiving another shopping boost today as a new London retailer opens its door to customers.
Notting Hill, a new ladies fashion store, is occupying the bottom floor of the former Zavvi shop in the Castle Mall.
Trading under Kaico Fashion LTD, owner of the company, Mr Mesut Yalcin, was delighted to bring the chain to Norwich.
He said: “A lot of people have said it’s a shame this shop was empty so long. It was a challenge to get here and I hope we won’t fail in that challenge.”
They currently have three shops in London.
Mr Yalcin said: “Norwich was one of the cities we wanted to come in. It’s a beautiful city.”
Every item in the store is priced at five pounds and stocks a variety of ladies fashions.
“Shoes, boots, bags, hats, jackets, tops. Whatever it is we manage to sell it for five pounds. Absolutely everything will be five pounds. Come and get loads of bargains,” he said.
Kaico Fashion LTD was founded ten years ago but Mr Mesut has been working in the clothing business for most of his life.
As well as filling the shop with affordable clothing he hopes to make the shop look attractive to customers.
“We try and take pride in our shops and the way they look,” he said.
The store will be creating up to 12 new jobs, with a mixture of full and part-time positions.
Notting Hill will be expecting in the region of 500 to 700 customers to walk through its doors today.
Andy Day is the general manager of the Castle Mall, he said: “It’s good to have a new owner and at last somebody to take part of the unit after it’s be empty for so long.”
The shop has been empty since February 2009 and was most recently used as a temporary Royal British Legion poppy shop opened by Sherriff Derek James.
