As expected, First Division visitors Norwich Trafford were too strong for newcomers West Lynn Sports & Social Club and progressed through to the semi-finals of the League Cup.
They won 7-1 with the West Norfolk side reduced to 10 men following a sending-off incident. On target were Mark Andrews (2), Jason Downing (2) and one apiece from Rob Eglington, Andy Viner (pen) and an own goal. Pete Blackmur replied for the hosts.
On the league front Archant avenged their home defeat the previous week to Spixworth United in Division Two (East). They won 4-2 with strikes from leading scorer Dan Barnstor (on 7), Wayne Kay, Mark Walker and an own goal. The home side replied through John Crickmore and Kirk Paulin.
In Division Two (West) Hellesdon picked up their first point of the season in a 1-1 draw at home to near neighbours Taverham.
Division Four (East) side Spexhall Huntsman & Hounds also avenged a previous defeat the week before when they crushed Parklands by seven clear goals in the return fixture - all the goals coming in a first-half blitz! Scorers were Dean Boast with a hat-trick, two from top marksman Gary Moon (on 6) and one each from Jamie Clarkson and Martin Pavitt.
Top match this Sunday is the local derby clash at Poringland with the Wanderers taking on Bungay Town in the Premier Division with clubs now beginning to make inroads into their fixture backlog.
First Division leaders Costessey entertain Whitton United. The home side will be all out to protect their 100 per cent record and should prove to be too strong for the visitors.
