If you have had a baby you will know how great it feels to finally get back into the clothes in your wardrobe. But for reader Julie Scotton, the thought of going back to the same old clothes she has worn for years fills her with trepidation. EMMA HARROWING helps her find a new look so that she can fill her wardrobe with clothes and accessories that make her look and feel stylish.

'I just don't feel that good about myself sometimes. I am a mum to two children and I had my second just before Christmas. I still have my baby tummy and I can't wait to get back into normal clothes,' says 38 year old Julie Scotton from Rackheath.

Instead of going back to her usual jeans and tops, Julie longs for a new look that will get her out of her style rut.

Says Julie: 'I have the same old style and I tend to go for the same old things when I'm out shopping. I try to go for different clothes but I'm not really sure what suits me so I feel safe wearing the same look I have had for years.

'The same goes for my hair. I did change the style about a year ago but I didn't think it suited me and so now I am trying to get it back to how it was.

'I don't want to be just a mum, I want to be noticed.'

The verdict

Julie says; 'I never thought that I could wear a long cardigan, but this look proves that I can. I also thought that bold patterns would just draw attention to the bits of my body I don't like, but this tunic really does make me appear slimmer and my tummy is not noticeable at all. I also thought that I couldn't wear black, but by having the green next to my face the black looks great on me.

'It will take me a while to get used to the red in my hair. It looks great, but I have to keep looking at myself in the mirror!

'The makeup has certainly given my complexion a boost, I look so radiant now.

'It's difficult to get yourself out of a rut especially when you have been wearing the same type of clothes and doing your hair and makeup the same way for years. Although I wanted a change it was difficult to let go of the things I usually buy and try something new, but I'm glad I did. I learnt a lot on my makeover day and I cannot wait to go shopping for new clothes and accessories that suit me.'
