Whatever our councillors and staff have decided to call the northern bypass, is immaterial.

Most of us will always call it the NDR but they have likened it to places like Peterborough and Milton Keynes, who like to turn their highway names into 'something' way.

It is more money added to the £205m expenditure so far. I have already pointed out to Highways that certain roads, ie Reepham Road for one, is simply called 'local traffic' and in part directions are not given to Drayton, but Hellesdon when the road itself left Hellesdon prior to the A140 Cromer Road roundabout.

It would be nice therefore if more thought had gone into correctly naming the current roads before spending on numerous new road name plates showing 'Broadland Northway' or is this an advert for Broadland District Council?

It would be nice if Broadland DC got stuck into litter picking the new road, something which has already been commented on in these columns and something which will get worse now that Norfolk County Council has started charging for DIY items and most certainly if then insist on putting a joint Norfolk County Council/Broadland recycling/waste depot with access from the NDR.
