Celebrate Valentine's Day at a special concert with Jonathan and his band who have been entertaining us for 25 wonderful years.

It is an orchestra which is celebrating its silver anniversary by reaching out to help the people of Norwich and Norfolk.

For 25 years the Jonathan Wyatt Big Band has been entertaining us and at the same time has supported many different charities and good causes across the region.

At Christmas, Norwich-born Jonathan, once the youngest band leader in the country, and his talented musicians made a new CD of big-band seasonal classics and profits went to the Norfolk-based Wiggly Support Group, which helps parents and carers of children and young people with cancer.

The group, set up in 2007 by Norfolk families, does wonderful and worthwhile work and is a charity which deserves our wholehearted support.

On Sunday Jonathan and his band will be handing over £1,500, money that has been raised by sales of the CD, to representatives of Wiggly at a special Valentine’s concert.

He wants to thank everyone who bought a copy of the record and hopes they enjoyed it. And if they did, how about having a night out on Sunday?

The band is returning to the Mercure Norwich Hotel, on Boundary Road, for an evening of magical music especially for lovebirds.

“We will be performing a collection of swing classics along with love songs by the likes of Bobby Darin, Michael Bublé and Robbie Williams.”

The vocalist will be the popular Phil Watson, former keyboard player and singer with Airplay, who later moved to Norfolk and has been singing with the band for 10 years.

This concert will form part of its special anniversary celebrations and former Sprowston High School boy Jonathan hopes to see old and new friends come along.

The Valentine’s Bouquet Big band Concert is on Sunday at The City Suite, Mercure Hotel, Boundary Road, Norwich, at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £12.50 and are available from the Theatre Royal box office on Norwich 01603 630000; Dixons Shopping Centre, Reepham Road, Norwich, 01603 429186; and from Jonathan on 01603 722673.`
