If you worked, or are still working, for world famous Laurence Scott & Electromotors then how about meeting up with some colleagues for a great night out?

It's not so much a works reunion, more of a family gathering when these men and women get together in Norwich.

They are people of all ages. Some are still with the company while others left many years ago. They all have one thing in common – Laurence Scott & Electromotors.

A name which is famous across the world. A name which illustrates why Made in Norwich stands for class and top quality craftmanship.

Over the decades this pioneering company, the last great Norwich industrial giant, has provided work for thousands of people.

There was a time when LSE employed more than 3,000 men and women at its factories across the city – Gothic Works, the Switchworks, the Foundry and at Salhouse Road.

The company offered a range of job opportunities to generations of people, from apprenticeships on the shop floor, to work in the offices designing the machinery and equipment which went all over this country and abroad.

And, while so many other Norwich manufacturing firms have closed, LSE is still going strong. There is still a demand for its products.

A few years ago two of its long-serving workers, John Jones, who spent an extraordinary 50 years and six months at LSE, and Ivan 'Spider' Whurr, who worked there for more than 30 years, decided to see if there was any interest in a reunion.

'Thanks to you and the Evening News spreading the word, we had a good turnout and, by the end of the night, everybody was asking when the next one was,' said John.

The gatherings turned into annual events which many people looked forward to – and not just the men and women who have now left the company.

'It's good to see people still working at LSE coming along and talking about how things have changed over the years,' said John.

They are now appealing for anyone who has, or still is, working at LSE to go along to the next reunion at The Cottage public house (car park entrance Spinney Road), on Friday, July 6, from 7pm.
