Archant

Nothing raises my spirits more than the preservation of Norfolk’s physical character and protecting it from self-serving property developers.

Along with this earnest desire, however I have the aspiration for our county that what development does occur makes creative use of brown sites in order to bring them in line with the historical best in their localities.

A disued military instillation may be a forlorn prospect as it stands, but could be the very flagship of new communities if restored in the best Norfolk traditions.

Such places have adequate brown sites on which to build properties and green sites to be preserved for agriculture or amenities.

What the Prnce of Wales achieved with Poundbury in Dorset can be done here.

What an inspiring prospect it is to envision a new Norfolk community, in a setting harmonising with its surroundings, and delighting the eye from near or far.
