Schoolchildren armed with gloves and bin liners set out on a mission to clean up Norwich's streets last week in a bid to make the city greener.

More than 30 Key Stage 2 pupils from the Magdalen Gates Primary School's Eco Team went out for the litter pick in Magdalen Road, Bull Close Road and other roads surrounding the school.

The Eco Team was established this term and staff say they have had a 'fantastic response' to the group, which meets every Tuesday.

Emily Attfield, PA to the head teacher, said: 'We have tried to encourage the children to be a bit entrepreneurial, thinking of their own ideas and then implementing them with our help. We've broadened it out so that all the children in the school can get involved.

'All the children were very excited about the litter pick, and some of the teachers and governors joined in too, which was nice.'
