Tony Zeqiri and Molly Ajeto were the stars of the weekend's Norfolk County Table Tennis Junior Closed Tournament at Catton Grove Primary School - each completing a title hat-trick.

Costessey High School pupil Zeqiri made a stirring farewell to the junior ranks with a title treble, successfully defending his under-18 singles title, winning the boys' doubles with Alexander Oliver and partnering Ajeto to victory in the mixed doubles.

Ajeto, meanwhile, also dropped only one set on her way to winning the girls round robin as well as partnering Holly Fleming in the girls' pairs.

In the Boys U18 singles, Zeqiri beat Arron Kemp to reach the final against doubles partner Oliver, who had recorded an unexpected win over Sam Rock in the semi-final.

Beating Rock was one thing, however, Zeqiri another as the Wensum Premier A star proved far too strong in the final.

The boys doubles was similarly one-sided with Zeqiri and Oliver comfortably defeating Rock and Stephen Harsley.

There was briefly a shock on the cards in the mixed doubles when Zeqiri and Ajeto dropped the first set, 13-11, to Rock and Fleming - but they came back to take the next three.

The girls U18 singles was played as a round robin event in which Ajeto was the comfortable winner, although runner-up Holly Fleming did take the first set from her.

Ajeto and Fleming teamed up to comfortably beat Rhiannon Evans and Claire Wiggs in the mixeds.

The semi-finals of the boys U15 singles saw Tom Fox beat Sam Thompson and Jordan Gabriel beat Nathan Lamb. Fox went on to coast to a comfortable win over Jordan in the final and was also the winner of the U13 singles over Robert Penny.

The U11 event was played as a round robin and Oliver Thompson cruised to victory, only dropping one set, against runner-up Oscar Moyes.

The Girls U15 event was won by Rhiannon Evans, who beat newcomer Bethany Kelf.

The U13 singles, played as a round robin was a much closer event needing a countback of sets won. The result was that Millie Lingwood was the winner and Jordan Carr the runner-up. Jordan was the easy winner over Carrie Last in the U11 singles.

Winners will now get the chance to bid for national glory in ESTA's Butterfly Schools Individual Championships in Doncaster this weekend - after which England teams will be chosen to compete in the Invitation Internationals against hosts Ireland, Scotland, Wales, the Isle of Man and Guensey in June.
