Exeter boss Paul Tisdale spoke of his team's "scary" journey to Norfolk for their League One fixture - a trip he said they had been advised by police not to make because of treacherous weather.

They eventually decided to make the 300-mile plus trek after being encouraged to do so by the Football League.

"When we spoke to the police in Norfolk, they advised us not to travel up to the game, so we immediately contacted the Football League," Tisdsale said. "They said we should make every effort to get here and, by God, did we make every effort.

"We had a horrible 12-hour journey up here on Friday with a short stop-off for training on the way.

"At one stage the coach had to slow down to about 10 miles an hour because the driver couldn't see the road properly because of all the snow. At that stage every single player put his seatbelt on, and I don't think I've ever seen a group of footballers do that before.

"It was pretty scary but we got here in the end and, thanks to the undersoil heating, the pitch was perfect for the game."

The effort proved to be worth little, with Tisdale admitting that City's class told in the end.

"I can't be cross with our players," said Tisdale. "We played against some really, really good players, some very talented players.

"They have a really potent strike force with Grant Holt and Wes Hoolahan and you just know that you are going to have to come and score some goals here, just to get a result. They have goals in them all the time.

"I have been continuously proud of my team and the way they have played right to the end. We play some good football, we play with style. I don't want to be stylish losers all the time, but we are pushing against the odds at places like this."
