Seven Norfolk bowls clulbs to be represented at finals

Norfolk’s top young bowlers competed in the final county stage of the English Youth Development Scheme’s National School of Excellence bowls tournament.
The group of 28 had already been whittled down from 53 youngsters, and the final heats for the under-18 and under-15 finals were decided by a round robin before semi-finals and a final.
In the under-18 final, Gallow’s Danny Cawthorne had enough to beat County Arts’ Thomas Segolo.
The top four was completed by Lewis Stubbs of Roundwood and James Segolo of County Arts, while Norfolk County Bowls Coaching Association chairman Bryan Barnes made the presentations.
The under-15 final saw Dereham’s Dean Rudling come out on top against Callum Tite from Lynnsport.
Gallow’s Rhys Morgan took third with The Norfolk’s Jemma Warrington fourth and presentations completed by English Bowls Coaching Scheme’s regional coach Alex Sumpter.
The eight semi-finalists will represent seven different clubs, and all go through to the regional finals at Chesterton Bowls Club, Cambridge, where they will join qualifiers from the other six counties in the region.
