Michael Rose will be glued to the TV set tonight - but is unlikely to be making mental notes of the strengths and weaknesses in the Leeds side that faces Millwall.

Rose has gone from trying to stem the goals against for bottom side Stockport to creator of goals at top-of-the-table City.

Instead of firefighting at Millwall next weekend, he'll be coming up against a team many believed would be leading from the front this season.

They were, until Norwich overtook them. Now, all eyes are on Leeds, to see which way their up-and-down season will take them next.

"I think we'll be watching," he said. "I think maybe a few of the lads will watch the game. Obviously we are not worried too much about them. We've got to concentrate on ourselves and just kick on now until the end of the season."

With an eight-point gap between City and Leeds and with others struggling to make a sustained impact, City have no real reason to be scared of anyone in League One.

"I think that's right - but not because of over-confidence in any way," said Rose. "You just have to be confident - we have a good set of players here and I think we have got the right ability and the right players in the squad to win the league."

Rose and Co might have been sitting slightly more comfortably had they left Swindon with all three points on Saturday, but opinion varies over whether it was points lost or gained after the hosts grabbed a share with a goal right at the very end.

"I think you can look at it both ways really," said Rose. "We had the three points there and unfortunately we have lost the goal in the last few seconds. I suppose we look at it as a point gained and a point closer to promotion.

"Swindon had a really good result at Southampton on Tuesday night which probably surprised a few people."

City's goal was scored, almost inevitably, by Grant Holt, but was made by a magnificent cross by Rose after good work on the left.

"It turned out to be a good cross after a good piece of work between Wes (Hoolahan), Korey (Smith) and myself down that side and I've crossed it in and Holty does what he does best," said Rose.

With Adam Drury prowling the touchline as a sub at the weekend and Rhoys Wiggins back from his loan spell at Bournemouth today, there's plenty of competition for the left-back role - and that suits Rose fine.

"I'm really enjoying it so far," he said. "Ads (Drury) is back and the gaffer has said he has been brilliant all season and it's good competition really - it keeps everyone on their toes and I think we are enjoying the battle."

City Reserves are in action tonight, with a Totesport.com Combination East Division game away to Watford (7pm). The match will be played at Boreham Wood FC.
